Over the past 60 years, Traffic Safety Supply Company (TSSCO) have focused on becoming the pre-eminent manufacturer and distributor of state highway signage and other products in the Pacific Northwest.
TSSCO manufactures state highway signage and way finding systems in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
TSSCO has spent years securing and maintaining contracts to manufacture state highway signage and way finding systems for the Washington, Oregon and the Idaho areas. Through their decades of experience they have built a reputation of producing high quality, custom signage that saves lives every day.
TSSCO approached us to begin envisioning the next iteration of their corporate website. Over time their previous site had begun to experience rendering issues, suffered from convoluted content streams due to years of attrition, and under represented the brand.
In addition to a new site, they were also in need of a custom quote system that would allow them to streamline their sales process—taking the quote process online for the first time in the company’s history. The automation of their quote process would allow TSSCO to reduce the team hours involved in getting orders into their sales funnel, allowing the team to work more effectively.
In addition to the website, TSSCO also tasked our team to help with a refresh of their company logo, brand consulting, and trade show collateral. The logo, like the website, needed to be re-approached to tighten up the visuals and update it for the next phase of the TSSCO story.
As with most of the projects Shop works on, TSSCO’s refresh started with a round of discovery. We spent time meeting with the client to gain a solid understanding of sign manufacturing and what the team’s ultimate goals for the project would be.
The more we know about what a team does on a daily basis, the more targeted we can be in our strategy of how we effect meaningful change.
Understanding the history of the company, how their brand has developed over time, and bringing ourselves in line with their future plans is essential to knowing how we can help. The more we know about what a team does on a daily basis, as well as their current constraints and limitations, the more targeted we can be in our strategy of how we effect change.
Hundreds of products and matching spec sheets meant a clear and concise strategy for accessibility was essential. Time was spent working with the TSSCO team developing extensive taxonomies to best describe the content while focusing on findability and ease of use for site visitors.
We further reinforced TSSCO’s brand through updated designs for the company logo, brand color palettes, product spec sheets, and tradeshow collateral.
A focus on design strategy meant tying the new site into existing brand assets. The creation of an updated look + feel of the website was further cemented by updated designs for the company logo, brand color palettes, product spec sheets, and tradeshow collateral.
The custom quote system for TSSCO was implemented using Woo Commerce as the e-comm framework. Custom development led to an extensively modified code base which became the backbone for a completely new, automated workflow for their quote system.
This was our first attempt at de-monetizing an e-commerce system so that only quote information could be passed onto a sales team. The resulting system has become the first automated order processing in the company’s 60 year history. TSSCO has been able to capitalize on this by speeding up the sales process and closing orders faster than with the more manual sales process.
